Description
Many individuals who suffer with Bipolar Depression go undiagnosed and never get the help they need, and it’s only gotten worse since COVID. People with bipolar are more likely to be in living conditions to contract COVID easier. On top of that as of November 2020, COVID patients with a mental illness are nearly twice as likely (8.4%) to pass away from COVID compared to those without any mental illness (4.7). 51% of patients with Bipolar Depression are undiagnosed and 69% of patients get misdiagnosed at first. For my awareness campaign, the mission is to put out as much factual information about Bipolar, squash all the misinformation or misconceptions about it, and educate more of the public about Bipolar and how to get help so it could lead less misdiagnosis and more people getting treated.

Alongside the higher death rate from COVID, those with mental illness such as those who are Bipolar are at higher risk for COVID.
They are more likely to be in environments that are a hot bed for spreading COVID such as crowded residences, hospitals, and even prisons.

Those who have a close relative with Bipolar are at a 5 -10 percent higher risk to have it.
A twin is significantly higher with a 40 - 70 percent chance.
51 percent of individuals with Bipolar go untreated.
69 percent of patients are misdiagnosed at first.
A third of patients remain untreated for 10 years.
Helping those at risk to develop bipolar.
Between 4 and 40 percent of people living with PTSD also met the criteria for bipolar.
